While Kim Ann Foxman toured Europe and stuff I emailed Kim to ask her if she was willing to make a mixtape using the tracks on the Trax Records: The 25th Anniversary Album (off of the Trax Records: The 25th Anniversary Collection, out now). I asked Kim to get lost in the music and get experimental.

While working on this project I was wanting to find a way to honor the people who are rarely given any attention, or credit, in the way that they helped form and drive the dance music scene into what it's become today. Luckily, and coincidentally, Kim Ann is an out and proud musician and one of the many "women" in dance music.

Cheers to us queers, people who identify as women, gender impersonators, people of color, people with little money and to everyone who drives this community who feel that they have not been thanked enough for their contributions.

The tape debuted exclusively on SPIN, big thanks to SPIN and Kim <3

Mixed by Kim Ann Foxman

The Petition
As I sat in my atelier and watched yet another person coming on SNL promoting some film, I thought...."Why there no be any gay famous people on here? Why RuPaul get no hosting job? Rupaul famous, Rupaul big!"

So this is a petition to get Lorne Michaels to ask RuPaul to finally get the recognition they both deserve, by hosting SNL! Rupaul could be both the musical act and host! I want a world where we can accommodate one of America's living legends to blast songs like "Covergirl" or "Supermodel", I want a world where a young gender impersonator can look up to that SNL episode and be like, "Mhmmmmmm, Ima be on SNL"

"The top 1 per cent have the best houses, the best educations, the best doctors, and the best lifestyles, but there is one thing that money doesn't seem to have bought: an understanding that their fate is bound up with how the other 99 per cent live Throughout history, this is something that the top 1 per cent eventually do learn. Too Late."

I asked Ming (of Ming & FS) to create a mixtape inspired by the willow tree. You can also catch a special project from Ming and 2Beeps, "The Nutz", out now.
"When I was a kid we had a huge weeping willow tree in our backyard.  I used to love climbing that thing and hang out on its limbs with the longs branches flowing in the wind all around me...until hurricane Andrew came and kicked the shit out of it.  The storm uprooted the tree from the yard and it came smashing down on the lawn.  It wasn't until the "Womping Willow" in the Harry Potter movies did I see such mayhem caused by a tree again.  This "Womping Willow" mix is based on that beautiful willow tree fighting the storm.  And yes, I am a Potter nerd.
Plus I'm showcasing  a bunch of to -be released tracks from my Hood Famous Music label!"
